2018 Government Day

Our day started at the State House with an insightful presentation on the legislative process from Mac McArthur who serves as the Executive Director of the Alabama State Employees Association.

Next we had our own Representative Steve Clouse who serves as Chairman of the House Ways and Means General Fund Committee.

Pinch-hitting for us in the next slot was Rep. Ken Johnson from House District 7 which includes
Franklin County, Lawrence County, Morgan County, Winston County.

Next the students were recognized by the House of Representatives while sitting in the Gallery.

Then the students went over to the Capitol and spent some time talking with Governor Kay Ivey about leadership.

The students had lunch over at the Commerce Center Cafe.

Then it was back to the Capitol.

Next a meeting with the State Treasurer, Young Boozer.

Students then loaded into the vans and headed down to the Frank M. Johnson, Jr. Federal Courthouse to meet with Chief Judge Keith Watkins.
