2019
Government Day
Our
day started at the State House with an
insightful presentation on the legislative
process from Mac McArthur who serves as
the Executive Director of the Alabama
State Employees Association.


Representative Wes Allen came
in and spoke to the students next.



Next we had
our Representative Steve Clouse who serves
as Chairman of the House Ways and Means
General Fund Committee.


Senator Donnie Chesteen also
shared with the DCYLP students.



Then the students
went over to the Capitol and spent some
time talking with Governor Kay Ivey
about leadership.



 
After lunch
at the Commerce Cafe the students
walked down to the Supreme Court and
were welcomed by Dr. Rich Hobson,
Director of Courts, who shared with
them about Administrative Office of
Courts.

Justice Brady E. Mendheim, Jr.
talked to the students about the
Supreme Court.

Judge Scott Donaldson talked
to the students about the Court of
Civil Appeals and resolving civil
disputes.
