2019 Government Day

Our day started at the State House with an insightful presentation on the legislative process from Mac McArthur who serves as the Executive Director of the Alabama State Employees Association.

Representative Wes Allen came in and spoke to the students next.

Next we had our Representative Steve Clouse who serves as Chairman of the House Ways and Means General Fund Committee.

Senator Donnie Chesteen also shared with the DCYLP students.

Then the students went over to the Capitol and spent some time talking with Governor Kay Ivey about leadership.

After lunch at the Commerce Cafe the students walked down to the Supreme Court and were welcomed by Dr. Rich Hobson, Director of Courts, who shared with them about Administrative Office of Courts.

Justice Brady E. Mendheim, Jr. talked to the students about the Supreme Court.

Judge Scott Donaldson talked to the students about the Court of Civil Appeals and resolving civil disputes.
